As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all participants, GRNA has introduced a new Umpire Identification Policy in line with our Child Safeguarding policies.
To help everyone easily identify who can be approached during games, umpires will now wear coloured scrunchies.
🟢 Green Scrunchie – Senior Umpire (18+)
A green scrunchie indicates the umpire is 18 years or older. Coaches or team managers may approach the senior umpire at an appropriate time if clarification on a rule is required.
🔴 Red Scrunchie – Junior Umpire (Under 18)
A red scrunchie indicates the umpire is under 18.
Junior umpires must not be approached by spectators, coaches, managers, or players regarding game decisions or rule clarifications.
This is an important part of our Child Safety commitment, ensuring our junior officials can learn and officiate in a safe and supportive environment without direct adult confrontation.
If there is no green scrunchie present, please direct any concerns or questions to Verity, Frances, or another GRNA committee member, who will assist.
We appreciate everyone’s support in protecting our junior officials and promoting a respectful sideline culture at GRNA. 💜
